Benchmark Promotes Shepherd to Downtown Farmville Branch Manager
July 18, 2024 - Benchmark Community Bank is pleased to announce the promotion of Lisa Shepherd to Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager for the Bank's Downtown Farmville location.
"Lisa has been with Benchmark since 2004," said President/CEO Neil Burke. In that time, her career journey has been enhanced by the goals she set and achieved. Her dedication to her team, our customers, and perpetuating the Benchmark culture are exemplary. We are fortunate to have Lisa take on this leadership role in Farmville."
The Charlotte County native says she was looking for a career in banking when she signed on at Benchmark. "I was hoping for bigger and better positions. I really wanted to become a lender," she recalls.
During her time with Benchmark, Shepherd has gained invaluable insight into retail banking by serving in each branch role, including Assistant Branch Manager at the Farmville Downtown location since 2018. At each step along the way, she was enhancing her skill set to better serve her customers: Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) Bank Managers School, Leadership Coaching, and VBA Consumer Lending School.
"I like helping people make their dreams come true," Shepherd said of her role at Benchmark. "I love that the kids I gave suckers to when they came through the drive-up with their parents are now the grown-ups coming back now to let me help them with their grown-up needs. Instead of handing them suckers, I help them find a way to get a house, car, or open a business.
"We truly get to help people make their dreams a reality," she said. "When they come into our branch, we want them to know we care about them, not only their business. They know they are among friends who sincerely want to help them with their financial journeys."
Outside of Benchmark, Shepherd is the proud mother of two adult children and an active member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. She says the organization's family-oriented sponsorship of annual fundraisers to assist area families with children dealing with often life-threatening physical impairments appeals to her motivation to help others.
