Benchmark Community Bank Awards Scholarships to Area Youth

May 29, 2024 - Benchmark Community Bank is pleased to announce that ten high school seniors located in the Benchmark service footprint will be receiving $1,000 each in scholarships to further their post-secondary educations. The scholarship focuses on applicants' demonstrated commitment to community and school involvement. An essay portion captures applicant perspectives on the importance of supporting one's community through volunteerism. The application round opened on December 1, 2023, and closed on February 15, 2024.

The annual $mart$tart Community Commitment Scholarship is named for the bank's $mart$tart money management program designed for ages 13-17. Recipients selected from a field of ninety-two applicants include:

  • Patrick Allen, Mecklenburg County High School
  • Christopher Coronas, Mecklenburg County High School
  • Victoria Daniel, Amelia County High School
  • Nia Davis, Prince Edward County High School
  • Joseph Dreher, Kenston Forest High School
  • Haley Hayes, Liberty K-12 Online Academy
  • James Murray, Halifax County High School
  • Peyton Murray, Halifax County High School
  • Isabello Russo, Halifax County High School
  • Addison Swenson, Southampton County High School
